The Canadian International Auto Show is one of the most magnificent shows in Canada, where one can see, share and experience new content and features like never before. It is a major tourist attraction and is extremely popular in Ontario especially to car enthusiasts. Worldwide exhibitors will showcase over thousand cars and trucks including concept cars, classics, motor cycles, auto equipments and alternative energy vehicles. The event is hosted by the Canadian International Auto Show and supported by the Toronto Automobile Dealers Foundation.
The Canadian International Auto Show is North America's only officially endorsed international auto show after Detroit. The show is unique in the world and "out of the ordinary" based on the integration of design, classic cars, automotive art, and sport compacts into a "total automotive experience".
The Canadian International Auto Show kicked off last February 12th and will run through February 21st at the North and South Metro Toronto Convention Centre. It features a variety of activities and expos for visitors to enjoy. Car enthusiast will be able to attend and enjoy, such as the Cruise Nationals, Shelby Showcase, Subaru Sweepstakes, Centre Stage, and for the younger visitors, there will be a Volkswagen Children’s Play Care Centre. Over and above the cars and entertainment, there will also be contests and give-aways throughout the show.
Here are some useful hints to enjoy the show:
1.)Wear comfy shoes. Stilettos or high-heeled boots are strongly discouraged. I know they look cute, but trust me; your feet will appreciate a pair of running shoes after a long day of walking the show floor.
2.)For those dragged in by a loved one: grin and bear it. Let's face it - not everyone likes car shows: the crowds, the cars and the walking. But keep smiling. No sour faces allowed. Whether it's your other half or a child or friend who's into cars, obviously they want you there. So, enjoy it. Smile. Laugh. Ask a few questions along the way to suggest some interest such as "what's under the hood of that car?" or "what's new with this car?" Be sure to listen and be patient when they explain in detail how the latest model is better than last year's model.
3.)Organize yourself. Map out a plan. If there's something that interests you or your friends or family, check it out first. If something catches your attention, check it out when you arrive while you're still energized - it might invoke up some excitement along the way. And remember, you won't just see average, boring old daily drivers. There are some cool concepts and funky all-electric vehicles and hybrids that are sure to spark some interest.
4.)Drink. I know you may be tempted, but I don't mean alcohol. Drink plenty of water to keep hydrated. You'll be covering a lot of ground - stay fresh and focused. Bring some snacks, too, especially if you have kids.
5.)Take a break. If your kids had too much candy - take a break and step outside for a breath of fresh air. If you need to leave the kids and go solo for a while, go to the Volkswagen Children's Play care Centre.
6.)Mingle with the stars. Car shows often attract big celebrities. At this year's show, the 2009 Indy 500 Rookie of the Year Alex Tagliani will be on hand signing autographs for fans. It’s going to be on the last weekend of the show: Saturday (February 20th) and Sunday (February 21st).
7.)If you miss the stars, you can still see some famous, fabulous rides, including a multi-million-dollar collection of classics from automotive legend Carroll Shelby. More than 40 of Shelby's creations will be on hand,
8.)Avoid the crowds. If you hate crowds, skip the opening weekend. Leave work early during the week and head to the show when the crowds aren't as big. It'll be a lot easier to manoeuvre around the show.
9.)Save some cash. At $20 for an adult ticket, going to the auto show can be expensive - especially if you have a family. Buy your tickets online and you'll save 10%. There are also other savings options, like family and day passes.
Remember, it's not simply the best of what is. It’s the best of what’s to come. Check out The Canadian International Auto Show 2010 from February 12th to 21st 2010 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

Land Rover goes GREEN
Hybrid cars are considered as the “car of tomorrow”. It is able to effectively conserve fuel and at the same time, it only produces low levels of toxic fumes. Because of these benefits, hybrid cars are now growing in popularity every single day. Many people are now considering getting rid of their conventional cars and purchase a hybrid car to help in cutting fuel consumption cost. One of the obvious reasons why people are now shifting from conventional to hybrid cars is primarily to save on gas. Secondly, it is environmentally friendly; Hybrid cars emit lower toxic emissions compared to conventional gasoline-powered cars due to less gasoline being burned. The last yet one of the most attractive reasons are the tax incentives you can benefit from the government by purchasing a hybrid car.
To keep up with these changing consumer preference car manufacturers; such as Land Rover, Lexus and Mercedes Benz are starting to develop environmentally friendly vehicles.
Land Rover’s initiative in greening our environment and at the same time improving its brand eco-conscious image is starting to result in some exciting developments. Having already previewed its new hybrid technology in the form of the “ERAD” (Electric Rear Axle Drive) diesel-hybrid LR2 concept last year, the British SUV manufacturer is now working on a new hybrid version of its Range Rover Sport to be launched in 2012.Currently Range Rover has an excellent luxury and off-road image, but has a terrible reputation when it comes to gas consumption and emissions. According to the manufacturer, this new hybrid Range Rover should emit just 100g/km of CO2, which is far less than the only other hybrid in this segment, the Lexus RX450at 148 g/km of CO2.
The environmentally friendly Rover will operate on a 3.0-liter V6 engine, which will work in tandem with a 25KW electric motor. Land Rover often comes up with a number of different hybrid propulsion systems. They try to be different from what is available in the market. But this Range Rover Sport Hybrid will be somewhat similar to Toyota’s Prius. You can drive this hybrid Range Rover on an all-electric mode basis as well. Land Rover is still playing safe as far as the storage system goes.
Land Rover SUV’s have long been the definition of gas-guzzling SUVs that environmentalists love to hate. With the development of this hybrid vehicle, however, the company stands a good chance of becoming one of the greenest and greatest automakers in the industry.

Acura launches a luxury/sports coupe utility vehicle: ZDX
Advertising
The latest coupe-like vehicle to mystify me is the Acura ZDX, joining the BMW X6, Mercedes-Benz CLS, Infiniti FX 35, Cadillac SRX and Volkswagen Passat CC in the pantheon of models that compromise head room for style.
Acura is billing the ZDX as a 4-door sports coupe. This may be confusing since the ZDX has more than 2 doors, and looks and feels like an SUV. It will feature the key design highlights of a panoramic glass roof, hidden rear door handles and bold fender flares. In fact the all new 2010 Acura ZDX is more of a cross-over than anything else. We are at age where cars, SUV’s, trucks, and luxury sedans are all mixed into one vehicle. And the Acura ZDX is a sleek and functional automobile that Acura is hoping will appeal to the world. Under the hood the ZDX is powered by a 3.7-Liter V-6 engine that has Honda’s DOHC Variable Valve timing or VTEC. The result is a muscular 300-hp and 270lb-ft of torque. A 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters put the power to the ground without too much drive train loss. The ZDX is also equipped with Honda’s very own “SH-AWD®” (Super Handling All-Wheel Drive); which is an all-wheel drive safety system that sends torque to the wheels that need it. Standard on the ZDX are 19-inch, 7-spoke alloy wheels; the largest standard wheel in the Acura line-up. And the best part is that the ZDX will get 12.7 litres/100 km in the city and 8.8 litres/100 km on the highway, making this Crossover the leader in its segment.
The interior will feature the amenities that Acura has become known for: luxury seats wrapped in leather, power everything, a huge glass moon roof, Bluetooth, navigation, and more. Acura offers two packages from its ZDX base model; The Technology Package adds several features including a Navigation System with Voice Recognition™, an Acura/ELS Surround® premium audio system and a new multi-view rear camera. The Advance Package boasts additional customer enhancing technologies like a blind spot information system, a Collision Mitigating Braking System™ (CMBS™), and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC).
The ZDX brings a new level of prestige to the Acura line-up. It will be priced and positioned between the MDX luxury SUV and the RL luxury sedan.
